Nepal: Water cannon used to disperse Corona protests

Police in Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, have used water cannons to disperse hundreds of protesters against the government's strategy to deal with the corona virus crisis.

Demonstrators were demanding better testing for returning workers and transparency in quarantine facilities and spending.

Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.

Tens of thousands of laid-off workers in India and the Middle East are returning to Nepal.

The nationwide lockdown in the last days of March is set to end next week. So far, 4,000 people have been diagnosed with the corona virus and 14 have died.
